In 2022 Ravenna is pleased to host the European Maritime Day (EMD) on 19th and 20th May.
European Maritime Day (EMD) is an annual two days event during which the European maritime community meets to discuss and define joint actions on maritime affairs and the sustainable blue economy.
Ravenna Experience
Dante in Ravenna
Dante in Ravenna, an opportunity to discover the events that characterized the last years of Dante Alighieri: exile, life in the city, death and the daring dispute for the remains, as well as the interventions of enhancement of the tomb over the centuries.
This tour will take you to discover the Basilica of San Francesco, the place where the Supreme Poet's funeral took place and in the Zona del Silenzio (Silence Zone), where his Tomb is still located today.
You will enter the multifunctional space of Casa Dante (Dante’s House), recently inaugurated thanks to the collaboration with the Uffizi Gallery of Florence and the Classense Library of Ravenna.
The guided tour will be concluded with an additional entrance to the Dante Museum, with a new multimedia setting up that took place in May 2021. It’s confirmed as the main custodian of Dante's history preserved for centuries in our city.
Excursion aboard the Stella Polare motorboat
Starting from the Darsena we will sail along the Candiano, a navigable canal that hosts part of the industrial port and connects the art city with the sea, until you reach the dykes of Marina di Ravenna, where will be served an aperitif with prosecco, bruschetta with marinated anchovies and mixed fried.
The 2-hour excursion will take you to discover the stories that relate to the deep and ancient bond between man, see and this territory.
Darsena Spring
A series of guided tours along the streets of the Darsena of Ravenna, to discover stories, suggestive corners, peculiarities and people of a fascinating and in some ways unexplored neighborhood.
The tours take place live, outdoors and in small groups, always respecting the health regulations.
The history of the district and the Darsena
A guided tour through the history and archeology of the Darsena, the dock area of the city, to get to know the link between Ravenna and its conquest of the sea. Including the more recent past of the Candiano canal.
Street Art Darsena by bicycle
Long gone are the days when street artists were considered vandals who defaced walls. Today it is a universally appreciated and recognized art form. This tour by bicycle will give voice to the many murals of the Darsena and an identity to the artists who contribute to animate them, with their incursions.
Ravenna of the Rediscovered Mosaics
Ravenna of the Rediscovered Mosaics, a journey to discover two guardian places of the ancient mosaic art, of which Ravenna is the capital.
At the TAMO Museum it will be possible to admire important mosaic finds of late antiquity, such as the floor decorations of the Church of San Severo, and more recent productions, such as the works on Dante's subject exhibited in the dedicated section.
We will take you inside the Domus dei Tappeti di Pietra (Domus of the stones carpets), an ancient late Roman dwelling that, discovered randomly in 1993, was the 2017 winner of the prestigious Francovich Prize.
This is an opportunity to appreciate and learn about two excellences, an example of conservation of private floor decorations typical of the period.
Traces of glory, fragments of history
Following the traces that have marked its history, this tour will project you into the glorious past of Ravenna thanks to the discovery of two important jewels of the city: the Baptistery of the Arians and the National Museum.
Inside the small baptistery, witness of the Arian-Orogothic cult in Ravenna which was later condemned to heresy, in addition to the mosaic decoration of the dome, which makes it one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the city, it will be possible to admire the various decorative and structural changes that this monument suffered over the centuries.
Silent guardian of the city's history is also the National Museum, the second stop of this guided tour. Housed inside the ancient Benedictine monastery of San Vitale, since 1885 it has preserved archeological finds and collections of applied arts, testimonies of Ravenna's past, gathered with care, love and patience by the noble citizens and learned monks of the city's great abbeys.

CAPPELLETTO, THE KING OF ROMAGNA TABLE - FRESH PASTA WORKSHOP

This workshop is for you!
The “sfogline”* of the Mercato Coperto, bearers of rolling pin and wisdom, will teach you how to prepare the real cappelletto romagnolo.
*The “sfoglina” (pasta maker) is historically seen as a middle-aged woman who, using a rolling pin and a pastry board, "rolls the dough" strictly by hand to create the base for tagliatelle, tortellini and other stuffed and unstuffed egg pasta.
Cappelletti are, for Romagna, a dish charged with a symbolism of well-being, wealth and opulence. In the past, wishing "cappelletti on the table and throughout the year", was in fact one of the most heartfelt and appreciated wishes.
The experience will be complemented by a GUIDED TOUR OF THE MERCATO COPERTO by the staff, to discover the history, architecture, furnishings and enogastronomic thinking of the place
Aperitif on board of the Stella Polare motorboat
Short navigation tour inside the Dock in the Candiano Canal, where you will discover, by a licensed guide, the story of this part of the city and of its relationship with the sea and its recent redevelopment.
At the return in port, continuation of the evening in the heading of the Candiano with djset and aperitif on board based on bruschetta with marinated alice, mixed fried and a glass of wine.
